I started my career as an estate agent in September 2018 and have never looked back. I was previously training as an electrician, but decided it wasn’t for me, life is too short not to enjoy your work every day.

I decided to try something a little different after thinking, what are my strongest attributes. After careful consideration I thought a career in estate agency would suit me. The reasoning behind this being , I have always had an interest in property and interacting with people.

I really do enjoy the day to day responsibilities that come with being an estate agent such as; helping people find their next home, conducting viewings, negotiating the best price for our clients and always being busy. I find having efficient diary management is critical, something so small can have such a big impact on how productive your day is. Every day before our morning meeting which starts at 8.30am, I like to set a structure to my day so I can be as productive as possible.

When meeting new people and existing clients I begin to build a rapport with them and it’s enjoyable to share stories with each other. The more I get to know someone from meeting them or speaking over the phone, I can start to visualise what they are searching for from a property, meaning I can help tailor their search and help them find their next dream home. I can even get out and about to roads and houses and do some specific canvassing for clients, if they know exactly what they want and where they want to be.

When we list a new property it’s really exciting for the team and the company. The first step I would take is to speak to the valuer and find out as much information as possible, about the property, so I can be as informative as possible. After this I would start by calling clients from my database and discuss the property with them. It’s enjoyable speaking to people over the phone or face to face and describing a property to generate viewings.

A rewarding part of the job is trying to assure new clients and existing clients why they should view a property that they had previously discarded from simply looking at the photos online. However, when speaking to people over the phone and explaining the benefits of the property, a lot of clients are extremely surprised that they discarded it initially and are pleasantly surprised following the viewing.

I personally believe the most enjoyable part of the job is when a price has been agreed for a house and you’ve been able to achieve the best price for my clients and the reaction when telling the buyers they have been able to secure their next dream property. It’s priceless!

I look forward to returning to work and helping my clients to sell their properties locally and helping new clients find their next home.
