My name is Gareth and I am the Branch Manager for Bradford & Howley based in the Marshalswick office and during these unprecedented times I wanted to let you know what I have been up to. Having been furloughed, I have found myself with spare time to fill as I am at home most of the time, so I have been spending time brushing up on the training and legislation side of our business.

At Bradford and Howley we are a part of the Guild of Property Professionals which is a network of the best independent agents in the country. Importantly there can only be one selected agent in every town in the country and we are the selected agent for Harpenden, Marshalswick and St Albans. As part of the membership the Guild offer a variety of training courses. I have completed the Sales and lettings Associate Scheme, and the Enhanced training for sales and lettings Scheme.

I feel it is important to do training to ensure I keep my ‘estate agency brain’ as sharp as possible during this time so I am ready when normality can resume.

I have also decided to take it upon myself to obtain a PropertyMark qualification. I am in the process of doing the ‘Technical Award’ for ‘Sale of Residential Property’. This is not an essential course that estate agents do but I believe that the best agents in country have this award and that is what I aspire to be. There are four main sections that the course covers to include: General Law, Health and Security in relation to the Sale of Residential Property

• Law Relating to Residential Property Sales
• Practice relating to Residential Property Sales
• Property Appraisal and Basic Building Construction/Defects

Once this course has been completed and I have sat the exams I will become a Member of the National Association of Estate Agents and have the letters MNAEA after my name. My aim is to have this course completed by the end of the year!
